Camberley, Be Renovated. Planning permission granted for Pembroke House and Ashwood House redevelopment schemes
On 16 November 2017 at Surrey Heath Borough Councils planning meeting permission was granted for the redevelopment of Pembroke House and Ashwood House.
Ashwood House occupies a key site on Pembroke Broadway in Camberley town centre, and was acquired by Surrey Heath Borough Council in 2015 to facilitate its future development. The upper floors of the building will be transformed into high quality residential accommodation comprising of 116 flats.
The next stage in the Ashwood House project will involve the demolition of one of the redundant ramps and the temporary relocation of bus stops from the area in front of Ashwood House to a position further along Pembroke Broadway, after which Berkeley Homes will start work on transforming the site.
Following the completion of the construction work, the Council will organise the repaving of affected areas of the footpath along Pembroke Broadway and other public areas to co-ordinate with the approach taken on the adjacent Princess Way and High Street, which were the subject of a recent public consultation.
Simultaneously, Berkeley Homes will demolish the current Pembroke House building, located on Frimley Road and construct a new building which will provide 25 flats and ground floor retail space. This development will provide affordable housing for local people and retail space for Camberleys businesses.
Berkeley Homes are working with SHBC on both these key regeneration projects. Works will start in the new year.
