The High Street is not open yet for general traffic or parking.

The site will be checked daily by Dyer and Butler.

Phase 1 Central part of the High Street

The asphalt road surface, granite paving on the pavements and granite kerbs are nearly complete.

The new street furniture, including new benches, bins and cycle racks, are now being installed.

Phase 2 Princess Way Pedestrian Section

Granite paving has been laid on the pavements and walkways.  This work is complete.

The new modern lighting columns have been installed.

Street furniture is now being installed.

Phase 3 Princess Way Carriageway

This area is now complete and Service Yard 6 is accessible to delivery and service vehicles.

Work will start on the pavements on the opposite side of the road in January 2021.

Phase 5 Knoll Walk

Improvement works are now taking place.  The improvements will bring new trees, a green wall of plants, seating and lighting to this area.

The new lighting fixtures are now in place and the majority of the paving is now complete.  The street furniture is in the process of being installed.

Public art – Streets of Gold.

The public art scheme is now being installed.

‘Streets of Gold’ brings elements of Camberley’s heritage and history to life in a series of bronze plaques embedded into the walls, pavements and planters across the High Street and Knoll Walk.

M+R (Musson and Retallick) are the artist collaboration who have created the display.  Streets of Gold is a collection of statements, questions and sentiments gathered by M+R from the people of Camberley.  Fragments of these statements become disassembled poetry, ready to be reassembled in any order by viewers of the artwork.

What improvements will the project bring to Camberley?

These works will bring greatly improved road and pavement surfaces to these areas. New trees, plants, lighting and street furniture will also be installed creating a modern, attractive space.
