Celebrations as Surrey Heath businesses pick up awards

More than 150 delegates have come together to find out the winners of the Surrey Heath Business Awards 2016. Returning for a third year, the awards showcase the achievements of businesses spanning the length and breadth of Surrey Heath, from Bagshot to Mytchett and Chobham to Camberley.

Recognising the great people and ideas that keep the local economy thriving, the winners were announced during a packed ceremony hosted at the Camberley Theatre on Friday.

In the shortlist, all manner of industries and professions were represented, from hair and beauty to engineering, and catering to sales.

A new award for Outstanding Achievement was included this year. The six categories and their winners were:

Best New Business – Spotlighting new and emerging businesses.
Winner: Spokes of Bagshot

Marketing Success – Creative and innovative marketing with measurable results.
Winner: Glo Hair Salon

Best Village or Rural Business – Spotlighting businesses located in rural or village areas.
Winner: The Pottery Gift House

Social/Environmental Responsibility – Highlighting organisations who take responsibility towards the community and the environment.
Winner: PS Hairdressing

Developing Talent – Recognising businesses that provide opportunities for personal development.
Winner: Stihl

Outstanding Achievement – Celebrating a company or individual who has significantly contributed to the growth and success of the Surrey Heath business community over a number of years.
Winner: Pennyhill Park Hotel

Each winner received a specially commissioned award on stage during the ceremony.

Leader of Surrey Heath Borough Council, Councillor Moira Gibson said: “It’s really important that we encourage and support local businesses and these awards celebrate the borough’s dynamic companies and thriving local economy.

“With such a wide range of businesses entering the various categories, we were amazed by the quality of the submissions, which made the judging process all the more difficult.

“I was pleased to see the awards made a really good impression and were enjoyed by those who came. Our congratulations go to all the winners!”
