Fun in store at The Square for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations
The Square, Camberley has plenty in store for little ones and adults alike this May half term and to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Children can enjoy activities from Saturday 28th May to 1st June in Central Square, all themed around the Jubilee including decorating a pencil case, getting active with Little Gym, Royal themed face painting and Jubilee story time and crafts with the library concluding with a Royal fancy dress parade.
Central Square will be the place for live entertainment on Saturday 4th June with pop hits and indie rock classics performed by the amazing “High Rollers” between 12pm – 2pm followed by Camberley’s Got Talent music show starting at 2.30pm, Ascot Brewery will be hosting a special pop-up bar (12 – 4.30pm) for the event.
On Saturday 11th June perfect your dance steps or learn something new in ‘Dance Through the Decades’ hosted by The Secret Stage School. A series of dance demos and workshops will be on offer starting with Charleston at 11.30am, followed by Rock & Roll, Disco and finishing with the Waltz at 1.45pm. Can we suggest bringing some sensible dance shoes to take part under our glamorous disco ball!
Visitors to The Square are also being encouraged to complete the Butterfly Trail which will run until the end of July. Follow the trail to learn about 17 species of butterflies and moths in collaboration with Surrey Wildlife Trust and Butterfly Conservation. Find the hidden butterflies and collect a packet of ‘butterfly friendly’ seeds to take home*! Guides are available at the Customer Service Desk. You can even post your tear off slip in the competition box to win a caterpillar cake with a winner drawn every two weeks.
Rhoda Joseph, Centre Manager of The Square said, “The Square is really looking forward to hosting the May half term activities created around the Jubilee theme. The activities are always popular and supported by the local community who enjoy coming along to have fun, learn new skills and meet each other. The pop up bar and entertainment planned on the 4th June will create the perfect party atmosphere to celebrate the Jubilee in style. The butterfly trail is a great activity during the half term week, and we hope to welcome more families wanting to take part.
