Mayor opens Soul Chill’s First UK Store in Camberley

Soul Chill, the popular Taiwanese food and drink chain, celebrated the grand opening of its first-ever UK store in Princess Way on 3rd August 2024.  The new Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Sarbie Kang, officially inaugurated the store with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

She went onto say, “Soul Chill is a wonderful new addition to Camberley’s Town Centre. Not only does it bring a fresh cultural experience to our community, but it also contributes to the revitalisation of our local economy. I am delighted to see such an exciting and vibrant business opening here, and I wish Soul Chill every success in the future. Everyone is welcome!”

Soul Chill’s Taiwanese fruit teas, pearl milk teas and Hong Kong style snacks have quickly gained positive recognition. The brand’s commitment to quality was recognised with the prestigious Belgian ITQI International Taste Award, where it received the highest Three Star Award in 2022. Additionally, one of its signature drinks won the “Popularity Award” at the Taiwan Milk Tea Festival.

Co-founders Anthony Yau and Eddie Wong expressed their excitement about bringing the brand to the UK, highlighting the unique flavors and cultural experience that Soul Chill offers. Yau stated, “We are thrilled to introduce Soul Chill to the UK and to bring a taste of Taiwan to the people here. Our aim is to make Soul Chill a beloved destination for residents and visitors alike.  We’ve invested significantly to ensure our first UK shop stands out, especially in its design and decor. The fresh, playful atmosphere reflects a youthful, distinctive style bringing a sense of novelty and excitement to the Camberley food scene.”

As the master franchise for Soul Chill in the UK and Europe, Yau and Wong are passionate about bringing authentic Asian snack and beloved flavors to the UK food scene. Both co-founders hail from Hong Kong, a city renowned for its vibrant street food culture. Signature street foods such as *Hong Kong Style Fried Chicken Leg and Egg Waffle* are among the many delights Soul Chill offers, allowing customers to enjoy a taste of Hong Kong right here in Camberley.

Wong shared his thoughts on the local food scene with a smile, “You know, sometimes when we’re wandering around town, we might crave a little something different.  With Soul Chill, we’re hoping to offer more options and add a bit of that tasty Hong Kong street food here.”

What is different about Soul Chill’s bubble teas?  They stay true to the authentic flavors and traditional preparation methods of Taiwanese tea beverages and prioritise the health and well-being of customers.  They use natural ingredients like pure sugar cane imported from Taiwan directly instead of processed sugar syrup in their drinks.  Soul Chill want customer to enjoy their tea everyday!

“Our mission is to introduce the UK to the genuine taste of Taiwanese hand-shaken tea drinks, a taste that we believe truly represents the essence of this beloved beverage,” Yau added, reflecting on the brand’s commitment to authenticity without directly comparing to others.
