Following the publication of its Annual Plan for 2017-18, Surrey Heath Borough Council is to hold the latest in their series of #TalkSurreyHeath interactive live stream events later this month to discuss its contents.

The Council’s refreshed Five Year Strategy and latest Annual Plan were both approved at a meeting of the Executive on Tuesday 7 March.

The Five Year Strategy is a rolling document which sets out the Council’s longer term key priorities, vision and objectives.

The Annual Plan details the outputs and success measures that will be delivered in 2017/18 for each of the Council’s key priorities, therefore linking the plan with the strategy.

These priorities are grouped under four themes: Place, Prosperity, People and Performance.

Key priorities and projects featured include the significant financial investment made by the Council into Camberley last year as part of its regeneration scheme, and the recently-signed Joint Waste Contract, through which Surrey Heath is set to save around £370,000 annually. Surrey Heath is due to join in February 2018 when the current contract ends.

The delivery of high quality community events including the Camberley International Festival, Frimley Lodge Live and Camberley on Ice is also highlighted.

Surrey Heath Borough Council Leader, Cllr Moira Gibson, said: “Surrey Heath is already one of the safest, cleanest and greenest, most prosperous places to live and it is important that we preserve this for future generations.
“Despite the financial challenges, the Council has managed to use funding wisely by increasing income and internal efficiencies, thereby not adversely affecting front line services.
“We are committed to securing successful outcomes, while rising to the challenges ahead.”

Members of the public will have an opportunity to discuss topics covered in the Annual Plan in the Council’s next #TalkSurreyHeath live streamed event on Tuesday 28 March.

The Council is keen to answer people’s questions, hear their views, understand any concerns and listen to new ideas on subjects important to residents via this Facebook Live event, which will take place from 7pm-8pm.

SHBC Leader Cllr Moira Gibson and Deputy Leader Cllr Richard Brooks will appear on the panel alongside Chief Executive Karen Whelan and Executive Head of Transformation Louise Livingston.

The Council is organising these innovative online events to encourage as many residents, business owners and interested parties to have their say on this important topic.
Members of the public can visit the [SHBC Facebook page](www.facebook.com/SurreyHeath) on the day to follow the live video stream – there is no need to have a Facebook account in order to view.

Questions can be asked via the comments section of the Facebook Live post if you are logged in to a Facebook account. Alternatively you can participate by using the hashtag #talksurreyheath on Twitter, by directly tweeting us @surreyheath or via email before or during the event on talk@surreyheath.gov.uk.
