The Square Launches Sensory Friendly Time Ahead of Purple Tuesday
The Square is shining a light on Purple Tuesday on Tuesday 1st November and launching a brand new Sensory Friendly Time in the centre.
The initiative, which occurs on the same date each month, is a global movement for improving the customer experience for disabled people, with nearly 1 in 5 of the British population having a disability that limits their daily activities.
Whilst The Square already offers a variety of accessibility facilities such as disabled toilets, free wheelchair hire, mobility scooter charging points and hearing aid induction loops, the centre is encouraging shoppers to stop by the Customer Service Desk on Purple Tuesday to speak to the team about any additional features they would like to put forward for consideration.
In addition, commencing 7th November 2022, a brand new Sensory Friendly Time will be held every Monday from 10am – 11:30am for those looking to shop in a quieter environment. There will be no announcements or tannoys during this time for those who prefer a calming atmosphere to shop.
Rhoda Joseph, Centre Manager for The Square Camberley, commented “We are excited to announce the introduction of Sensory Friendly Time, starting Monday 7th November. We are always looking to find new ways to improve the shopping experience for shoppers at The Square, and we hope that this will provide the opportunity for those who would ordinarily find the shopping experience difficult to do so in a more relaxing environment, especially in the run up to Christmas.”
