Waterfords support World Hospice Week by Volunteering for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice
On Friday 10th October, staff from Waterfords estate agents volunteered to fundraise for local charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice by packing bags for supermarket shoppers at Sainsburys, Watchmoor Park in Camberley
As part of their continued company-wide volunteering efforts, the team of five packed bags for shoppers over the busy lunchtime rush, in return for any monetary donation to the hospice. The Waterfords team alone raised an impressive £185.29 in just two hours, and this will be combined with funds raised by other organisation throughout the week, to help support this highly valued local charity.
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is the only adult hospice caring for terminally ill patients and their families across West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire. Every day, the hospice gives its care free of charge supporting over 140 patients, relatives and carers in their own homes, in the community and at the hospice.
Georgi Robinson-Welch, Corporate Partnerships Manager commented Since NHS/Government funding only covers 15% of our costs, we need to raise over £15,000 a day in order to continue providing the high levels of care and support that we do. I just want to say a huge thank you to the team from Waterfords Estate Agents for all of their efforts on Friday. They were such lovely people and just came in and got on with packing customers bags and collecting valuable donations.
Waterfords next volunteer day will take place at White Lodge Centre for disabled children, young people and adults in Chertsey.
